Fishery Rules 

Please see below a list of the rules at clay pit fishery, most of our rules are common sense, etiquette towards your fellow anglers and ensuring that fish care is taken seriously. Please read carefully as ignorance will not be taken as an excuse.

  • All anglers must be in possession of a valid Environment agency rod licence for the correct number of rods being used.

  • NO Guests allowed into Clay pit fishery, any angler who brings a guest the ANGLER and the GUEST will receive an INSTANT BAN. This now includes wife’s, girlfriends, parents and most importantly your mates. If you are found to invite your mates down for a drink, dinner, social, walk around or other and have given them the gate code you will be asked to leave immediately. If you require a lift the person dropping and collecting is only allowed as far as the car park.

  • Barbless hooks only, no barbed or micro-barbed hooks. 

  • No leaders of any kind, Banned items included are leadcore, lead-free leadcore, safe-zone leaders, braided leaders or any form of snag leader. 

  • NO braided mainline

  • All tickets must be purchased before fishing commences.

  • All landing nets, unhooking mats and weigh slings must be bone dry before fishing commences, (This will be checked on arrival).

  • All anglers must be in possession of a carp care kit. (Acceptable products include, korda propolis, gardner intensive care, nash medicarp kit e.c.t.). 

  • Fishing from marked swims only, anyone caught stalking will receive an instant ban.

  • Due to limited availability we are strict with our times, we ask that your session starts and finishes at the time stated on your ticket. We would kindly like to ask that when arriving for your session please do not arrive before 12(midday). When leaving please make your way out of your swim by 11am as it may be needed for another booking, thank you. 

  • NO sacking or retaining of fish is permitted. The removal of fish from this venue will be viewed as a criminal act. 

  • Fishing is only allowed with rod and line. 1 hook only per line.

  • Abuse to any member of the fishery staff will not be tolerated. 

  • NO LIVEBAIT TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE FISHERY. 

  • NO unauthorized selling of bait, tackle, food or any products is to be caried out onsite. 

  • NO litter whatsoever to be left behind, please take it with you. anyone found to be leaving litter will receive a lifetime ban.

  • Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times, any mess left behind will be classed as litter and will receive a lifetime ban.

  • Each angler fishing must have a minimum sized 42" landing net, along with a large padded unhooking mat and large weigh sling. (you cannot share even if you are in the same swim)

  • All nuts and particles (maize, partiblend, peogen feed, tares, chick peas, tigernuts E.C.T.) are banned, tinned hemp and corn is permitted. All pellets and boilies are allowed. 

  • The fishery gate must remain closed at all times, if you are seen leaving it open you will be asked to leave. Please make sure the gate is closed before and after you pass through. The gate is there for yours and the fish’s safety. 

  • If your rods are fishing then you must remain in that swim, please do not wander off. 

  • NO fires allowed, any BBQ must be off the ground and permission must be granted before use.

  • Please use the car park provided, under no circumstance is anyone allowed to drive around the lake. 

  • NO cutting of any bank-side vegetation, this includes plants, trees, bushes, reeds e.c.t.

  • NO longshank curve hooks. 

  • NO plastic baits of any kind to be used. 

  • NO baitboats or boats to be bought onto the fishery. 

  • NO tents, wind breaks or non fishing related camping gear, only recognisable fishing bivvy or brolly. 

  • Please use the Toilet provided, anyone found using a bush will receive a lifetime ban. if you choose to defecate elsewhere ie bucket, bag it, take it with you and bin it. 

  • All fish must be handled with care and not lifted more than 18" off the ground, always use a sling to move the fish from the water to the unhooking matt and back. 

  • Please be sensible when drinking, if you are not in control of yourself or the fish through drink/drugs, you will be banned.

  • Please be aware our bailiffs regularly check tickets, at this time they may ask to check your hooks and rigs. Please do not be offended if we ask you.

  • NO reserving of swims, if you want to fish a particular swim you can only reserve that swim with all of your gear (The bucketing of swims is not allowed). 

  • We do not allow lake viewings, this decision has been made with anglers best interest at heart. It allows people to fish in peace and quiet, safe in the knowledge that both themselves and their equipment is as safe as possible.

  • Please be respectful to other anglers and staff on the fishery, please keep to your water, see the lake map and peg boundaries if unsure. loud music, loud alarms and loud behaviour will not be tolerated. 

Terms & conditions, refund and booking re-schedule policy

If cancellation occurs at least 7 days prior to your session starting then we can either refund or re-schedule your session for a different date (availability dependant). If too little notice is given management hold the right to make the decision.

The management accepts no responsibility for injury, death, loss, damage or theft to persons, cars or equipment whilst on the complex. Management hold the right to open or close any part of the complex at any one time. Damage and theft while on the complex will result in prosecution. If you are in doubt or have any questions or problems please ask.

Group bookings must be made as far in advanced as possible. A 50% deposit is required to reserve your selected dates, please note this is non-refundable. The final and full payment can be made at any point from booking your session until 4 weeks before your session. If payment is not received at-least 4 weeks before your session it may cancelled.
